I get disillusioned with the Philippines when things like this happens. CHECK IT!
BAYO plagiarized this poor japanese girl's illustrations. TALENTED YOUNG FILIPINA MY ASS! tangina. BAYO had me fooled. I was at at one of their botiques the other other day and was seriously considering on buying those little deer designed shirts of "theirs".. then i find out about this!!
The following are originals by EMMA

and here's what BAYO has been doing to her work.

profiting from another person's intellectual property without their consent is just horrible! GRRRRR!! I want to kill that dude who runs BAYO now! T.T nakakahiya. What a stupid thing to do..
a big sigh for all of us.
This could happen to all of us here if we're not careful. Please be careful.. -__- Intellectual property is a big problem in our industry. Even if piracy is prominent this days, i can not believe a company as popular and legitimate as BAYO would do such a thing. For how long have they've been doing this?
I pity Emma because BAYO refuses to apologize to her. She's having a hard time speaking english too. I asked my brother to tell my sister-in law to help her since she can speak fluent japanese and english. I can just imagine the feeling of helplesness she's going through right now.
I say let's burn BAYO down. XP
EDIT: Please email BAYO now: http://www.bayo.com.ph/contact.php . Let them know we know what they're doing.

She replied to the LJ post of my friend: http://www.livejournal.com/~gpherman/21
She's asking for all of our help in getting BAYO for this.

I heard it from Joey the other week too, but i didn't know it was -this- serious.
What can we do?? Could we actually strike on BAYO? XP

I am a photographer in Manila and have done campaigns for different clothing brands like you. www.krikfolio.com - i would be so pissed if anyone tries to use my images that i created and turns it into something that i am not properly credited for and even claiming it their own! You must know by now that the images you you are using for your bayo kids collection is not yours or is not made by your design team. Should you fire them - and claim you had nothing to do with this; there already out in the market and hurt has beeen done to the owners of this images. Incidentally I am maried to a Japanese national who is a professional interpreter / translator - we will help ema and other japanese artist that you got them images from take their message accross for what you did to them is very depressing. The local Japanese Paper - manila shimbun is already publishing a story about this. I being an artist and having siblings that does illustrations for different local publications is very much depressed by what you did. I and another photgrapher Toto Labrador (who's btw married to Pierra Calasanz the EIC of meg magazine) and other photographers will launch an anti Ba-yo campaign should you not do something about this. I am so sad that you even had the nerve to have a PROUD TO BE PINAY campaign when in fact ripping off other people's works is one of the things you just did. No wonder pinays are now band in Japan!!!

Message from Emma
Hi, I'm Lisa, a Japanese based in Manila.I've been in touch with Emma since Hannah told me about this.
Here's her important message to you all(I translated it from Japanese):
May 27, 2005
My dear Filipino friends and fellow artists,
I am truly impressed and feel happy for receiving many messages
of encouragement over this BAYO incident.
I have been consulting this matter to various institutions
including the Japan Embassy to the Philippines and
Philippine branch of the Japan's Patent Office.
They advised me that this is a very sensitive case involved
with the intellectual property rights law.
In line with this, they cautioned me that it may be possible
that your efforts such as boycotting the BAYO products
and voicing out your concerns against BAYO would rather cause me
legal disadvantages if this case will be brought to the court
in terms of damaging the public image of BAYO.
I also heard that there are many people directly complaining
against BAYO by e-mails or telephone calls, saying they do so
on behalf of me. Unfortunately, I have to ask you to stop
these actions, too, due to the same reason.
I am very sad to learn the reality that your kind, brave and
sincere actions have a risk to result in the opposite direction.
I can't tell you how disappointed I am that I am no longer able to
accept your aid under these circumstances. I am so sorry.
I may also have to delete the related messages on my website soon.
I am going to let you know the results when everything is settled.
Again, thanks a lot for your support!
Emma

and another one...
And you would think others would learn from this... Folded & Hung fell into the same trap. I used to like their clothes but since their designs became too radical, I stopped stopping by their stores for a whie. Long story short... I went to F&H store in alabang and saw this shirt with a design that was so familiar. I swear Ive seen that certain design before and so I went home and browsed through my books and confirmed that the design was by Bionic Systems (http://www.bionic-systems.com) in Germany and that it's a logo (old logo) for Fifty Eight 3D (http://www.fiftyeight.com/), thus the "F" and the "E" on the crest. It's very disppointing. Yes, I am an artist that's why I had that book and that's why I know that Ive seen that design before. I will, from now on, boycott F&H items and I hope you guys would do the same. I would appreciate other people making this kind of move if they learned that my designs are also being used without consent.
I'll write again when I have pictures to back it up. See it for yourself... in Alabang, it's a green shirt with a crest design stitched on the front.
Spread the word!
